Summary
The role of the Business Analyst I (BA I) is to support self-service reporting and analytics initiatives across the business unit. This includes designing best-practice solutions that can lead to smarter, data-driven decision-making and rapid understanding of business processes and process performance. The BA I will understand the technical aspects of databases and data warehouses, data infrastructure frameworks, data mining tools, data integration and collection, and appropriate analytic and visualization approaches. Responsibility will include delivering high-quality, complex, and timely reports and presentations to support various initiatives and working closely with the Program Managers to proactively identify and resolve potential issues for the client.

Responsibilities

 

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Design, develop and test reporting solutions using various tools and platforms, with a primary emphasis on Salesforce (both Classic and Lightning versions)
  • Consolidate data reports and deliver to help drive data-based strategic decision making
  • Validate data, daily, through cooperation from team members and regular spot checks
  • Guide the business- serving as subject matter expert and thought leader- through the resolution of complex reporting and analysis problems
  • Partner with other technology teams to influence, maintain and effect changes to existing reporting systems and applications and act as key liaison between the business unit and software development teams
  • Develop optimal business intelligence strategies to satisfy short- and long-term business needs
  • Leverage an analytic mindset to develop visualization of key trends and insights for decision making
  • Identify issues, analyze available data and information to recommend changes to management
  • Provide analytical support of actual results against budget and feasibility of proposed business strategies
  • Create and maintain documentation for training purposes as required

Qualifications

 

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Handbook Classification:

 

 

  • Requires a passion for using data to effectively support business needs by analyzing existing reports and making changes as requested by users
  • Must have working knowledge of Tableau, Power BI or similar self-service BI products
  • Must have knowledge of sales methodology and reporting as it pertains to sales activities is a definite plus
  • Requires the ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and be comfortable dealing with changing priorities and timelines
  • Must be able to understand data and transform it into analytics, often in the absence of documentation, through data profiling, interviews, and reverse-engineering
  • Must be a motivated self-starter who can work independently, but also seek out opportunities to work collaboratively with others
  • Must have hands-on experience coding and designing new reports, maintaining and enhancing existing reports, and designing dashboards on scalable intelligence platforms
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience working directly with senior business leaders to understand objectives and articulate the value of business intelligence solutions
  • Requires ability to interact with User Community to gather requirements and transform it into requirement document

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
  • Proficiency with MS Excel including sorting, filtering, pivot tables, power pivots, charting, analytical formulas, and macros
  • Good understanding of MS SQL queries, including multi-table joins and data aggregation
  • 2-4 years of experience querying large scale Data Warehouse Environments, in addition to uploading data via an ETL process, and experience automating and managing reports, dashboards, and supporting self-service tools
  • 2-4 years of Salesforce experience
  • Four (4) in-office workdays per week and the option to work remote OR in office on fifth (5th) day
